Roger Bashew (Bass Player)

Having set his roots in Cape Town, his home city, playing various styles but focusing in on Jazz grew with experience and understanding of the industry. Roger moved up to JHB where he worked for 5yrs composing, producing albums and media tracks for various artists and productions.

Roger’s skills and experience led him to the US where he found himself settling in LA for the next 10 years. He worked as a freelance composer and producer while still performing in various Jazz outfits.

Roger has since returned home to open up his own studio and continue playing the music he loves, mainly blues and funk. His latest recording and production to boast is the recently released Natasha Meister Band debut album, “Half Way”.

The Natasha Meister trio is completed by this towering bass player and greatly experienced musician.

Paul Tizzard (Drummer)

Paul has been playing drums professionally for almost 20 years. He has played with several Cape Town Bands and solo artists including The Usual, Flat Stanley, The Stremes, Swamp Funk Quartet, Dave Ferguson and the LoneSharks, Edi Niederlander, Robin Auld and with guitar great John Mair(Sweatband) in a band called Crosstown Traffic. Recently he has worked and recorded with Heather Mac(EllaMental), Robin Levetan(Bright Blue), The Natasha Meister Band and ex Streaks members(Josh Hawkes, Cameron Bruce, Nic Hazell) in Stealing Copper.

Paul is also a leading Cape Town Piano Technician with his own business tuning, servicing and restoring pianos. For close to 10 years he worked alongside his Dad, Bob Tizzard, himself a prominent Trombonist in the Cape Jazz scene of the late 50's and 60's, learning the art of the piano technician, before taking over the reins in 2000.

Highlights in his musical career with The Usual include recording their 3rd Album in Melbourne, Australia, winning 2 SAMA awards in 1998, having 2 No 1's, and several top 10 hits on the 5FM charts and touring with The Counting Crows around South Africa in 1999.
